Many of us think of the economy like the weather – a powerful and uncontrollable natural force that you need a Ph.D. to understand and a Nobel Prize to predict. Economics is not a neutral math-based science. The economy is a human creation.
Economics is not really about graphs or math or even money. Economics is about values. It is an expression of our beliefs and assumptions about human nature, who deserves what and how much.
How can regular folks like us fix something as big and complicated as the economy? Well, we certainly can't leave it to the experts -- look at what happened! We have to learn more about economics, apply our own values and change economic policies.
